In a corner of
Costa Rica
lies a little piece of paradise, The Nicoya Peninsula. Still one of the most beautiful unspoiled areas in
Costa Rica
with so much to offer.
Tropical climate, warm Pacific waters and breathtaking sunsets. Whether you want a spectacular view of the Pacific or you want the beach at your front door, every day is an adventure on the
Nicoya
Peninsula
. Visit one of the many Nature Reserves, take a boat ride to an uninhabited island and see monkeys, dolphins, whales, turtles, and a multitude of other wildlife that call the Peninsula home. Go hiking through lush tropical forests to a cascading waterfall, snorkel the infamous
Tortuga
Island
, off shore fishing is excellent, surf one of the popular surf breaks in Santa Teresa/Mal Pais or spend the day on a white sand beach and watch a beautiful golden sunset.
The Peninsula is easily accessible with an airstrip located in Playa Tambor for a short 25 minute flight from
San Jose
. If you prefer a more scenic route, take a 2 hour drive from
San Jose
to Puntarenas and a beautiful one hour ferry ride across the
Gulf
of
Nicoya
to the
Peninsula
.
The Peninsula is strategically located on the
Pacific
Coast
offering all the amenities you may need; banks, super
mark
ets, shopping, medical facilities, veterinarians, hardware stores, and the list just goes on. Visit one of the organic fruit and veggie
mark
ets on Saturdays, the farmers
mark
et on Mondays and buy fresh fish daily from the local fisherman.
With the growth on the
Nicoya
Peninsula
and the proposal of a
Marina
in the next few years, the
Peninsula
is becoming an ideal place for investment. Properties are still affordable compared to other area’s on the Pacific with beautiful beachfront homes as low as $350,000 or incredible ocean view properties starting at $125,000.
The
Peninsula
is in a transition from agricultural farming to tourist and development use. Up and down the coast more and more development is happening. Property developers have found this area to be a great investment with property values appreciating 25% in the last year and 15% to 20% per year for the previous 4 years. We are seeing more residential communities offering homes, condos, 24 hour security, swimming pools, club houses, golf courses and tennis courts.
A very positive outlook for the
Peninsula
are the 2 large wildlife reserves, CURU and Cabo Blanco, which contribute to the appreciation of property in the area. Because of desired locations with ocean views and scarcity of neighboring land approved around the Reserves for future development, developers moving to the area must keep with the current trends of Eco-tourism and “green” development which keep our little corner of paradise from being over developed!
So yes, our little corner of paradise is growing with the times while keeping the most important things of
Costa Rica
, her unspoiled nature and natural beauty.
