Playa Tambor

Playa Tambor…My piece of paradise! Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk for miles on a beautiful beach sometimes being the only one on the beach, surrounded by mountains and rivers while listening to the parrots and monkeys during their daily calls? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see a sunrise over the ocean so awesome that you really couldn’t tell where the sky ended and the ocean began? How about falling asleep every night to the sounds of the jungle or the ocean waves lapping on the beach at your front door? Even walking into one of the local bars or restaurants and everyone knows your name? This my friend, is my daily life and why I am living my dream in Playa Tambor on the Nicoya Peninsula .

You ask what makes Tambor so special? Let me clue you in! I moved to Costa Rica 9 years ago and lived in Guanacaste. This is where I got my feet wet, literally and learned about living in a third world country and what that really meant. Dry, hot, dusty, no rain for months, hours to get to San Jose and potholes so big you could see China ! As time went by, progress moved in and the area grew, prices rose and unfortunately the monkeys moved out. So did I! I was on a mission and went in search of a beach community that I could call home. Now, don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with progress but in a way that continues to maintain the quality of life that so many of us seek by coming to Costa Rica and getting out of the “rat race” of the US.

I found paradise in Playa Tambor with so much to offer. The weather and climate here is a dry rain forest and tropical all year. I walk the beach here everyday and sometimes do not see another person only the monkeys climbing through the trees that line the entire Bay of Tambor . We have all the infrastructure, paved roads, supermarkets, gas stations, medical, vets, hardware stores, banks and the list goes on. You can buy fresh fish daily from the local fisherman at the pier or buy organic fruits, vegetables, herbs and chesses from the local farmers market. If you’re itching for a little culture, hop a plane from the Tambor airfield and you’re in San Jose in 25 minutes or take a beautiful 1 hour ride on the new ferry across the Peninsula and you’re in the city in 2 hours.

We are a community where progress has moved in but not taken over and the Tico’s can still be your neighbors. Prices are still affordable to buy your dream home or ocean view property and build your own home. So, if you are looking for a tourist destination area with high rises, malls and movie theaters, then Playa Tambor is not for you. But, if you are looking for a tranquil, residential community where you can still enjoy the unspoiled nature and everything that goes with it, come visit me and I will show you why Playa Tambor is so special!
